Background:
Please note that the photographs featured in this post entry here are historical for two important reasons. First, they were taken during a time of segregation of the races throughout most of the USA. Second, at the time, images of men naked together were virtually nonexistent.
The month of October as the History Month of our community and culture is a fairly recent event here. For centuries, "our" people suffered in silence and for the most part, alone. Same gender loving people had no means or outlet to meet others of our nature and virtually all of them deep in a concealing "closet" in secret and silence.
The Stonewall Inn Riots tore away the barriers to our community and cultural pride and our sense of identity and paved the way for our march to both equality and freedom! This began the arduous journey to our road of recognition for both what and who we all are as an integral part of our society and ourselves. This is why our GLBTQ+ History Month is worthy not only of our attention but our pride as well.
Let's remember to celebrate us being us!
Take care and stay bare!
